NEW ISRAELI CUISINE
Gold fell in love with Israel on her first trip in 1980 as a guest of the Israeli government. As she became the country's unofficial spokesperson, she wrote about the food and wines of Israel, began a company to promote them, helped create New York's first Med-Rim restaurant, and was one of "Four Women Chefs for Peace." All of it the groundwork for the emergence of the "new Israeli cuisine."
