Rosemary-Lemon Pear Martini: Wonderful for the holidays!  You can make one cocktail at a time or make a large pitcher for a crowd.

6 tablespoons vodka
1-1/2 tablespoons rosemary simple syrup*
2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon pear brandy (poire williams)

Put all ingredients in a rocks glass over 5 ice cubes.  Stir briskly so that some of the ice melts.  Strain into a chilled martini glass.  Garnish with a thin slice of lemon or pear and a small sprig of rosemary.

*To make Rosemary simple syrup:  In a small saucepan put 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water.  Bring to a boil.  Lower heat and simmer until sugar dissolves and liquid is clear.  Add 2 rosemary branches (about 3 inches each) and let sit 1 hour until cold.  Remove rosemary.
